"Chopin and the Romantics" concert honours Independence Day celebrations in Cape Town

A classical music concert entitled "Chopin and the Romantics" was held on 9 November 2024 in Cape Town, along with an exhibition dedicated to Fryderyk Chopin.
The aim of the event was to celebrate Independence Day and the 185th anniversary of the death of the outstanding Polish composer. The concert and exhibition were organized by Joanna Majksner-Pińska in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria. Ms Majksner-Pińska is a journalist for the socio-cultural quarterly "Dwukropek", a musician-pianist, a Polish diaspora activist, and a member of the World Association of Polish Diaspora Media. The concert aroused great interest and attracted many viewers. South African students of the Academy of Music in Cape Town masterfully performed works by Chopin, Paderewski and selected composers of that era.
