Poland in South Africa

Minister Pandor highly appreciated the work and achievements of Ambassador Andrzej Kanthak during his diplomatic mission in South Africa in 2017-2023 and thanked him for his personal contribution to the development of friendly relations between the two countries.

The Minister spoke with appreciation about the cooperation between Poland and South Africa in the economic, diplomatic, scientific and cultural fields. She also mentioned the need to put emphasis on education in technical fields in South Africa, especially at the level of professional development and the possibility of taking advantage of the rich Polish experience in this field.

She thanked the Polish authorities for the contribution of the Polish authorities to ensuring the safe return of South African citizens to their homeland during the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, as well as the help provided to her compatriots staying in Ukraine, mainly South African students, after Russia's intervention in Ukraine.

Ambassador Andrzej Kanthak also pointed to other areas where there are opportunities to deepen cooperation between the two countries and to the readiness to share the experiences of the Polish transformation, not only in terms of transformation understood as the transformation of 1989, but also knowledge and solutions, e.g. in the field of mass privatization, acquired over the years.

The invitation to the meeting with Minister Naledi Pandor on the occasion of the end of the mission in South Africa should be considered a great honour for the Ambassador and the Polish Embassy.
