Memory unites us. Warsaw Ghetto Uprising Campaign on the 82nd anniversary of the Uprising

18.04.2025

As a symbolic gesture celebrating the memory of the Jewish heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Radosław Sikorski and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel Gideon Sa'ar along with 87 ambassadors and representatives of Polish and Israeli diplomatic missions participated in this year's edition of the Ghetto Uprising Campaign.

“Memory unites us.” Warsaw Ghetto Uprising Campaign on the 82nd anniversary of the Uprising

It is the third time that the heads of diplomacy of both countries as well as their ambassadors accept the invitation of the ELNET Foundation to join the educational campaign organised by the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews commemorating the outbreak of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. As is the case each year on 19 April, yellow daffodils, which symbolise the memory of the Ghetto’s inhabitants heroic struggle, spring on the streets of Warsaw and many other places in Poland and abroad.

This year’s commemoration has gained special meaning. Joint participation of the foreign ministers should be interpreted not only as a gesture of remembrance but also a sign of mutual trust and dialogue between the two nations, characterised by openness and readiness to collaborate, and based on mutual respect. It is also a strong and symbolic expression of shared responsibility for preserving the memory of Polish Jews—victims of the Holocaust, heroes who fought for dignity, freedom, and humanity.

The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising Campaign is much more than just pinning a symbolic daffodil on one’s clothes—it also features a rich programme of educational events, debates and artistic initiatives held in Poland and abroad. The campaign organised by the POLIN Museum in collaboration with partners around the globe reminds us of the power of memory and of the meaning of collective remembrance of historic events.
