    The largest agricultural fair in Sub-Saharan Africa - NAMPO Harvest Day - took place in Bothaville, South Africa on 16 - 19 May 2023. This event is intended primarily for farmers and livestock breeders, distributors of agricultural machinery and food processing machinery, fertilizer distributors and tractor manufacturers. Representatives of the state administration of many countries also participated in the fair. Annually organized fairs attract over 80,000 exhibitors and visitors.

    The Delegation of the European Union in Lusaka, in cooperation with the EU Member States, organized the European Film Festival in Zambia. The European Film Festival is one of the most important cultural events in Zambia and is always very popular. The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria took part in this prestigious event for the first time. Eight EU countries: the Czech Republic, Ireland, Finland, France, Germany, Poland, Sweden and Italy took part in this year's edition of the festival.

    Europe Day - a celebration of peace and unity - is organized annually in South Africa by the Member States of the European Union and the EU Delegation in Pretoria. On 9 May we commemorate the anniversary of the historic Schuman Declaration in 1950, in which French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman presented his vision for a new form of political cooperation in Europe that would make war between European nations unthinkable. The Schuman Plan is considered to be the nucleus of what the European Union is today.

    In April 1943, on the eve of the Jewish holiday of Passover, the Germans occupying the Polish capital surrounded the Warsaw Ghetto – the Jewish quarter they had created – in preparation for its final liquidation. On 19 April, the German police and SS auxiliary forces entered the ghetto to complete the extermination.

    Recruitment for the NAWA Polonista scholarship program is underway. The objective of the Programme is to promote Polish language in the world by enabling foreigners interested in Polish language and Polish culture to study or carry out research projects in Poland. The program is addressed to students of Polish philology, Polish studies or Polish programs implemented among others as part of Slavic studies (in the field of Polish language, Polish culture and knowledge about Poland) as well as to scientists from foreign universities and scientific institutions.
