Recently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been receiving reports of phone scams in which fraudsters claim to be either MFA’s employees or employees of Polish missions abroad to get the call recipients perform certain actions, especially money transfers. Usually, during the phone conversation scammers will inform you that you have failed to follow certain procedures or provided partial or false data while filling out forms, which will allegedly bring about legal consequences.

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria kindly informs that on Monday, August 9, 2021 office will be closed due to South African public holiday (National Women's Day).

On Thursday, August 1, 2021, we mark the 77th anniversary of the Warsaw Rising. Every year, at 5 p.m. on this day, alarm sirens are heard on the streets of Warsaw. The city comes to a halt. In holding a minute of silence, Warsaw residents pay tribute to the fallen insurgents and those who survived.

The National Centre for Research and Development has been successfully creating and implementing bilateral and multilateral international research and development initiatives for years. In most cases, a Polish research entity or R&D performing company interested in the NCBR funding within the framework of international cooperation is required to follow strict requirements in order to have a chance to implement international project. It is sometimes linked with a modification of the original project idea. Therefore, thinking of an easier way of applying, NCBR has identified a niche in its offer and launched a programme responding to this demand.

June 14, 2021 saw the meeting of the Qualification Committee of the 2nd Stanisław Moniuszko International Competition of Polish Music. Ten pianists and twenty chamber music ensembles from Poland and six other countries qualified for the Competition.

Civil unrest is following anti-monarchy protests in eSwatini. It includes the burning and looting of stores, cars and businesses. Shops, banks and schools are closing. Curfew has been imposed from 6 p.m. until 5 a.m. Airlink flights between Johannesburg and Sikhuphe’s King Mswati III International Airport have been cancelled. Polish Embassy is urging all citizens to avoid major roads and remain home.
