“Time of hope for Europe” - an article by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland Mr. Mateusz Morawiecki was published in the Saturday issue of the Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica (dated 11 April 2020), both in paper and on-line edition. The article is about Polish - Italian friendship, the need for European solidarity and the great strength that lies in solidarity and ability to act together.

On 10 April 2010, a special TU-154M plane with the President of Poland Lech Kaczyński and the First Lady Maria Kaczyńska on board took off from Warsaw to Smolensk. On that very day the members of the official delegation were to participate in the ceremonies taking place in the Katyn War Cemetery, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the crime committed there. The aircraft carried 96 people, including members of the highest state authorities, representatives of various social circles and religious denominations, high-ranking military commanders and the plane’s crew. All the flight passengers died in the air disaster which took place during landing at the airport near Smolensk.

In connection with the unabated threat of COVID-19 spread, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland in Warsaw decided on 10 March 2020 to suspend the business delegations of the foreign services employees in order to minimize the risk of illness.

The National Agency for Academic Exchange has announced recruitment for the POLONISTA 2020 Scholarship Program for students and researchers. A novelty in this year's edition of the Program is the possibility of submitting applications by scientists interested in the language, culture and history of Poland, as well as extending the offer for students with scholarships for full Polish second – cycle studies.

The ninth edition of Maciej Płażyński Prize awarded for journalists and media serving Polish diaspora has been announced. Applications can be submitted by 12 March 2020.

The Institute of National Remembrance would like to encourage private persons, institutions and organizations to submit their nominations for the IPN’s Custodian of National Memory Prize. Nominations can be submitted until 22 March 2020.
