31.10.2025
The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria participated for the second time in the European Film Festival 2025 in Lesotho. The festival is a joint venture of the Delegation of the European Union in Maseru, the Alliance Française du Maseru, and EU Member States. On 31 October 2025, Poland presented the film "Peasants" directed by Dorota Welchman and Hugh Welchman at the Lesotho National University in Roma.
The European Film Festival in Lesotho took place from October 15 to November 10, 2025. 18 European and local films were presented during the Festival.
The themes of the European Film Festival align with the main areas of Lesotho-EU cooperation, particularly human rights, gender equality, youth, sustainable development, and the fight against climate change. The festival took place in various places, including the Alliance Française de Maseru, the National University of Lesotho, Café What?, and The Hub. The event included workshops and seminars for emerging filmmakers, providing opportunities to share knowledge and network. By bringing together diverse visions and perspectives, the European Film Festival aims to inspire audiences, promote intercultural understanding, and contribute to Lesotho's vibrant film landscape.
