Premiere of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute project "Penderecki's Garden"

On the first anniversary of Krzysztof Penderecki's death, on March 29, 2021, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute inaugurates the creation of a special digital platform, PendereckisGarden.pl, which allows Internet users around the world to learn not only about the master's compositional legacy and his strong influence on other artists, but also introduces Krzysztof Penderecki as a man full of passion.
The project was also prepared in English, with international recipients in mind. To music lovers, but also to those who know Krzysztof Penderecki's music only from films by David Lynch or Stanley Kubrick or do not know it at all.
"Penderecki's Garden" provides a comprehensive overview of the composer's legacy, presenting the scale and significance of the cultural phenomenon of Penderecki's music, which intersects with many genres, including film music, rock, jazz, classical and electronic music. The artists themselves testify to the phenomenon of Penderecki's music: Hania Rani, Max Richter, Robert Piotrowicz, Skalpel, Paweł Romańczuk, Jeajoon Ryu and Piotr Orzechowski, who commissioned the Adam Mickiewicz Institute to create works dedicated to the composer's memory. New, short pieces - sound, visual and audiovisual - make up the landscape of the digital garden, in which Penderecki is mentioned by, among others: Anne-Sophie Mutter, Arto Noras, Jeajoon Ryu, Katarzyna Budnik-Gałązka, Szymon Nehring, Janusz Wawrowski and Marcin Zdunik.
From March 29, from 8.00 pm, you will be able to watch a unique concert in the virtual amphitheater of "Penderecki Garden". The premiere will be new compositional commissions by the Institute - "Prelude a la Cadenza" by Hania Rani and "Testament" by Max Richter. In addition, we will hear jazz improvisations by the Atom String Quartet on selected works by Krzysztof Penderecki. The artists will share with us their memories of the master, they will also tell you how his music constantly inspires them to act creatively.
