Premiere of the Polish film "Kaytek the Wizard" in Cape Town

On December 2, 2023, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria organized a screening of the Polish film "Kaytek the Wizard" at "The Labia Theater" cinema in Cape Town. Directed by Magdalena Łazarkiewicz, "Kaytek the Wizard" is a funny and magical film based on the novel by Janusz Korczak, an educator and teacher whose timeless work has raised several generations of Polish children.
Kaytek, a teenager with an exceptionally rebellious temperament, grows up with his father and grandmother. One day, the class joker discovers supernatural abilities. Magical powers take control of Kayek's life and from that moment on he deals with both the disliked teachers and the entire school community, gaining sympathy and fame among his peers. The situation begins to get complicated when the forces of good and evil begin to compete for a boy with magical abilities. Which way will the young wizard go? He competes with real darkness, but instead of a duel of strength, family secrets will be the bargaining chip.
The aim of the event was to promote Polish culture and cinematography, as well as the achievements of Polish artists. The film aroused great interest and attracted numerous viewers. Before the screening, there was a meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, Adam Burakowski.
