Scouting Africa 2021. We remember! Polish memorial sites in Africa
03.09.2021
A group of Polish scouts who came to southern Africa as part of the Scouting Africa 2021” program (#HarcerskaAfryka 2021) visited the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria on September 3, 2021.
A group of twenty scouts has been involved in charity work and projects related to the maintenance of Polish memorial sites in South and East Africa for many years. This year, scouts will visit South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Each place on their route has its own specifics and special requirements. In this part of the continent, scouts deal with the maintenance of Polish cemeteries and monuments in Marondera (9 graves), Kadoma (8 graves), Rusape (13 graves), Mbali (18 graves), Bwana (16 graves), Livingston (9 graves). As part of their expedition, they will support Polish missionaries and people involved in charity in Zambia and South Africa.
From the very beginning, the Scouting Africa Project has been associated with cooperation with the South African Polish diaspora. This year, the scouts decided to get even more involved in joint activities, among others, organizing meetings with the Polish community abroad and helping at a centre for children and youth in South Africa.
