The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria is establishing cooperation with the prestigious "Boys High School" in Pretoria

The Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to South Africa, Andrzej Kanthak, met with the director of the elite Boys High School in Pretoria, Joanna Holliday, in order to discuss the possibilities of cooperation in the cultural field and the mutual benefits that may arise from bilateral relations. The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria and the Boys High School are planning to organize joint concerts, exhibitions and music workshops, as well as cultural exchanges.

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria will also present the Polish scholarship offer and study opportunities in Poland for potential candidates - future graduates of Boys High School.

Mrs. Holliday introduced Mr. Ambassador to the history, activities and achievements of the school, which is one of the oldest and leading secondary schools in South Africa. Established in 1901, Pretoria Boys High School is a traditional boys' school with approximately 1,500 students. The school prides itself on a rich tradition, high standard of education and a varied academic, cultural and sports program tailored to the specific needs and interests of students. PBHS ​​is a public school whose additional funding comes from school fees. The school's alumni included Max Theiler, the first African-born Nobel laureate. Theiler was awarded in Physiology and Medicine in 1951 for research into the origins of yellow fever and for developing a yellow fever vaccine in 1937. Another very internationally known PBHS alumni is Elon Musk, entrepreneur and philanthropist, founder or co-founder of PayPal, SpaceX, Tesla, Neuralink and Boring Company.
