The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria solemnly celebrates the 3 May Constitution Day

Among the invited guests were representatives of South African government institutions, including the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), heads and members of the local diplomatic corps, South African media, representatives of think tanks, non-governmental and social organizations, academic, business and clergy communities, as well as the Polish diaspora.

The ceremony began with the national anthems of the Republic of Poland and the Republic of South Africa.

The Head of the Mission, Jacek Chodorowicz emphasized in his speech, the special significance of the 3 May Constitution, which aimed to strengthen the state and restore its sovereignty. He pointed to the rapid growth of bilateral relations between the Republic of Poland and South Africa, and emphasized that Poland's presence on the South African market is becoming increasingly visible.

The guest of honour, Deputy Minister of Transport, Mkhuleco Hlengwa, spoke on behalf of the authorities of the Republic of South Africa. In his speech, he emphasised the dynamically developing political and economic partnership between Poland and the Republic of South Africa. He referred to the dynamic growth of the Polish economy in recent decades, which has enabled Poland to join the ranks of the most developed countries in Europe and the world. The guest of honour also congratulated Poland on the adoption of the Constitution of 3 May and emphasised the significance of this event.

After the official part of the ceremony, the numerous guests had the opportunity to view the exhibition "The Europe We Share", which was developed in cooperation with the Polish Robert Schuman Foundation on the occasion of Poland's presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2025.
