“The Promised Lands. Jews, Poland and the Land of Israel” - Webinar organized by CTH&GC

The Holocaust and Genocide Centre in Cape Town organised a webinar entitled “Promised Lands. Jews, Poland and the Land of Israel”. The event was devoted to the latest volume of the English-language academic publication: POLIN. Studies in Polish Jewry, the subject of which this time (this is the 35th volume of this publication) are the relations between Poland and Polish Jews and the land of Israel (before 1948) and Israel (after 1948).

The event was opened by Ambassador Adam Burakowski. In his speech, he spoke about Polish-Jewish relations, the efforts of the local community to commemorate the Jewish past in our country, as well as the animation of Jewish life in Poland. During the programme, the editors of the publication, including Prof. Antony Polonsky and Prof. Israel Bartal, outlined the general conclusions from the volume. Then, Dr. Jagoda Budzik spoke about the experiences of third-generation Israelis during their trip to Poland, and Dr. Hanna Lerner spoke about journalist Henryk Hechtkopf. The Polish Embassy in Pretoria was the patron of the event.
