World Book Day 2025

On the occasion of World Book Day on 23 April, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria joined the book collection campaign for Pretoria Central High School which was organized by the European Union Delegation in Pretoria and EU member states.
During the campaign, over 200 books and gift vouchers were collected, which will become the beginning of the Pretoria Central High School library.
The book handover ceremony was honoured by the visit of the well-known and widely read South African writer - Jackie Phamotse. Speeches were given by the Deputy EU Ambassador Pencho Garrido Ruiz and the school principal Moraka Samuel Manyasha.
World Book and Copyright Day, which is celebrated on 23 April, is an annual holiday organized by UNESCO to promote reading, publishing and the protection of intellectual property through copyright. This day was first celebrated in 1995.
