Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska attended a session of the European Parliament Committee on the Environment, Climate and Food Safety (ENVI Committee). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Polish Presidency with MEPs and exchange views in that context. The session took place in Strasbourg (France) on 23 January 2024.

On 1 January 2025, Poland will take over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. For the next six months, our country will play the role of a leader and coordinator, chairing meetings at the Council and representing the Council of the European Union internationally. On 20 December 2024, a conference was held at the Ministry of Climate and the Environment to present the priorities of the Ministry of Climate and the Environment for this period.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) has published its World Energy Outlook 2024 (WEO) report. This report, published annually since 1998, is the most authoritative global source of energy analysis and forecasts. In the report, the IEA identifies and examines the major trends in energy demand and supply and their relevance to energy security, emissions and economic development. and the achievement of climate neutrality.

During the second day of the visit of the MCE delegation in Brussels, the Minister for Climate and Environment attended the EU Environment Council. It was an opportunity to present to the other Member States the priorities of the Polish Presidency in the field of environment and climate. The meetings accompanying the Council were also attended by Deputy Ministers Krzysztof Bolesta and Mikołaj Dorożała. The bilateral meetings and the Council were held on 17 December 2024.

Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska attended the Energy Council of the European Union, where she presented information on the Polish Presidency and its priorities in the Council of the EU in the first half of 2025. The meeting, held on 16 December 2024 in Brussels, which also covered current topics of the Energy Council, was also attended by Deputy Minister for Climate and Environment Krzysztof Bolesta.

The upcoming Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2025 was the main topic of talks between the Minister of Climate and Environment, Paulina Hennig-Kloska, with Jessica Roswall, the Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy, Dan Jørgensen, the Commissioner for Energy and Housing, and Fatih Birol, the Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA). The meetings took place on December 9, 2024 in Brussels.

The development of Polish-Norwegian cooperation in the upcoming financial perspective of the Norwegian and EEA Grants was the main topic of a meeting between deputy minister Krzysztof Bolesta and the ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway Øystein Bø and the Director of the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) Kjetil Lund, which took place on 26 September 2024.

The Ministry of Climate and Environment and its subordinate units undertake a range of activities related to securing the infrastructure and supervised areas as well as support local emergency headquarters and services in their daily work. The Ministry is also working on support programmes for local authorities affected by the flood.

Poland continues to support Ukraine in its effort to maintain the ability to secure an uninterrupted supply of energy and heat for the population during the war with Russia. Deputy Minister Krzysztof Bolesta took part in the conference of the Ministerial Working Group for “Energy Security” in the framework of President Volodymyr Zelensky's Peace Formula. During the talks, problems of energy security for Ukraine during and after the armed conflict was discussed. The meeting took place online on 22 August 2024.
