On 22 and 23 April 2021 the Leaders Summit on Climate, a virtual meeting organised by the administration of the U.S. President, Joe Biden, was held with the participation of state leaders and heads of governments. The two-day climate summit was attended also by the Polish President Andrzej Duda, accompanied by the Minister of Climate and Environment, Michał Kurtyka

“Polish New Deal and National Reconstruction Plan – ecology as an opportunity for innovation development, economic growth and improvement of health in Poland” is the subject of a debate organised at the third day of the TOGETAIR Climate Summit. The event, which took place on 23 April 2021, was attended by Michał Kurtyka, Minister of Climate and Environment.

Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment, Adam Guibourgé-Czetwertyński, took part in the video conference of the ministers of energy of the European Union dedicated to the modernisation of construction sector and the decentralisation of renewable energy. The meeting held on 22 April 2021 was organised by Portugal, which currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The issues of energy transformation and carbon border tax are the main topics of the first day of the 2nd TOGETAIR Climate Summit. The event, which took place on 21 April 2021, was attended by Minister of Climate and Environment, Michał Kurtyka, and Deputy Minister, Adam Guibourgé-Czetwertyński.

A demonstration project involving the implementation and testing of the Special Protection Scheme (SPS) system by PSE SA and the BESS battery energy storage system, installed at the Bystra wind farm owned by Energa OZE, part of the ORLEN Group, was completed. The project, co-financed by the Japanese government agency New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), was supported by the Ministry of Climate and Environment.

“The use of hydrogen technology in the context of urban development” was the main topic of the panel attended by the Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment, Ireneusz Zyska, during the 2nd Congress of Urban Technology. The event took place on 20 April 2021.

The Minister of Climate and Environment joined the Mayor of Brwinów Municipality, the President of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management and Director of the Institute of Environmental Protection to inaugurate the new edition of the City with Climate programme.

Energy and climate transition, development of RES, as well as taxonomy – these were the key issues raised during the meeting between Vice-Minister of Climate and Environment Adam Guibourgé-Czetwertyński and Andreas Feicht, Secretary of State at the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany on 15 April 2021.

Pszczyna (Silesia), one of the most polluted municipalities in Poland, will see from 16 April this year anti-smog pilot programme implemented by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and water Management, which will be the second initiative of this kind after the programme announced two days ago for the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship. The total amount of PLN 6 million was allotted to the replacement of old furnaces and for the thermal modernisation of multi-family residential buildings (3-20 flats). Additional funds will be directed to the municipality for information and promotion activities.

“We need to popularise direct contact between the public and the Forest Services, while promoting the benefits of sustainable forest management. Making the forests more accessible to the general public is conducive to communication and information activities,” the Vice-Minister of Climate and Environment pointed out during the Forest Europe Ministerial Conference.
