Minister of Environment Henryk Kowalczyk and Minister of Energy Krzysztof Tchórzewski shared information about the available support programmes offered by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, which contribute to the improvement of air quality in Poland and the development of renewable energy sources.

“People and Climate – Solidarity and Just Transition” was the theme of a conference organised by the Polish Presidency of COP24, inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda.

The 43rd Session of the World Heritage Committee, which takes place in Baku in Azerbaijan, just adopted a decision on the Białowieża Primeval Forest, which is considered to be positive for the Polish side. The site was not added to the World Heritage in Danger list. At the meeting, the Polish delegation is represented by Vice-Minister of Environment Małgorzata Golińska.

Today, Minister Henryk Kowalczyk held a press conference concerning the Clean Air Programme at the Ministry of Environment. During the conference, the Minister clarified a number of false information presented by the media recently. He also ensured that the claims about the risk of losing funding for the Clean Air Programme were unfounded.

The Ministry of Environment denies the information published by the media on the danger of losing financing for the Clean Air programme.

Today, the Minister of Environment Henryk Kowalczyk and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski took part in a joint press conference concerning the implementation of a nationwide programme for environmental regeneration of soils by liming. During the event, an agreement was also signed between the Regional Funds for Environmental Protection and Water Management and the National Chemical–Agricultural Station in Warsaw.

Vice-Minister Sławomir Mazurek was one of the main guests of the 2nd Polish-British Business, Trade and Investment Forum, during which he attended a meeting with Graham Stuart, Deputy Minister for Investment at the Department for International Trade. Their talks concerned, among other things, exchange of experiences in the field of implementation of green technologies.

Air quality improvement is a priority for the Polish government and the Ministry of Environment, which is why on the 19th of September 2018, we launched the “Clean Air” priority programme, which encompasses subsidies for thermal modernisation of single-family homes, as well as replacement of heating systems. Its implementation is planned until 2029.

On the 13th of May, Minister Henryk Kowalczyk inaugurated the Polish edition of the EU Green Week, which was opened with an expert conference held at the University of Warsaw Library.

“The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management is spearheading the system of financing environmental protection in Poland. Throughout 30 years of its activity, it earmarked nearly 96 billion zlotys in total on activities aimed to improve the condition of the environment, and the result of its financing for projects can be seen throughout the country,” said Minister of Environment Henryk Kowalczyk during a conference commemorating the 30th anniversary of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW).
