In the European arena, Poland advocates pragmatism and the need for specific support mechanisms for the implementation of the Union's climate policy. At the informal meeting of the EU Environment Council (ENVI), Minister Bolesta stressed the need for greater precision and pragmatism in proposed measures and legislation. Poland has also objected to the European Commission's proposed 2040 emissions reduction target.

Energy security is the security of citizens - we worked on ensuring this at the next Council meeting devoted to energy. The deliberations focused on key challenges for the EU's common energy policy, including the implementation of the REPowerEU plan, i.e. moving away from fuels from Russia, and strengthening energy security. Ministers also adopted Presidency conclusions setting out a framework for further integration and improved security in the energy market. The Energy Council (TTE), which took place on June 16, 2025 in Luxembourg, was chaired by the Minister for Climate and Environment, Paulina Hennig-Kloska.

The circular economy, preparations for the UN Climate Conference COP30 in Brazil, the assessment of national energy and climate plans (NECPs) and a new water resilience strategy - these are the main topics of the meeting of the EU Environment Council (ENVI), chaired by the Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska and Deputy Minister Krzysztof Bolesta. The meeting took place in Luxembourg on 17 June 2025.

The implementation of the EU Nature Restoration Law was the main topic of the meeting of the EU Directors-General for Nature, which took place on 13-15 May 2025 in Warsaw. Among the issues discussed were the greatest successes and challenges in implementing this law, as well as the protection of ecosystems in the context of ongoing climate change and the protection of nature under strong anthropopression.

A meeting of the Forestry Directors-General of the European Union Member States was held in Warsaw on 13-15 May. The main topic of discussion was strengthening forest resilience through biodiversity conservation and the associated opportunities and challenges.

Strengthening energy security and improving access to key clean tech, as well as the situation in Ukraine and Moldova, were the main topics of the informal meeting of the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council (TTE), held in Warsaw on 12-13 May. The meeting was chaired by Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska.

Kraków is the host of the conference on EU Raw Materials Policy. The event is a platform for the exchange of experience and discussion of high-level representatives on ensuring a stable and sustainable supply of critical raw materials, essential for the functioning of EU industrial ecosystems.

The first Environment Council under the leadership of the Polish presidency took place today in Brussels. The discussions focused on environmental aspects of the Clean Industrial Deal, global environmental policies, and environmental impacts of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
