On 8 March, Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau met in Warsaw with Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sophie Wilmès.

On 7 March, Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz met with Deputy Minister of Human Mobility of the Republic of Ecuador Luis Vayas Valdivieso. The purpose of the Ecuadorian representative’s visit to Poland is to coordinate the evacuation of Ecuador’s citizens to their home country.

Minister Zbigniew Rau met with a bipartisan delegation from the US Congress, mostly composed of members of the House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, among whom was Congressman Gregory Meeks, the committee’s chair. The meeting was held in Rzeszów on 5 March.

On 5 March in Rzeszów, Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the initiative of the US side.

On 24 February 2022, the Russian Federation launched an armed attack on Ukraine. In doing so, in spite of peace efforts, it triggered an international armed conflict that has shaken the foundations of the contemporary international community and international law.

Another round of evacuation has taken place. Two coaches carrying 63 people left from Lviv. The transport took place through efforts of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv and the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Minister Zbigniew Rau took part in the NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Brussels on 4 March 2022. The session was also attended by the foreign ministers of Sweden and Finland, as well as the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. The meeting’s agenda also included an address by the foreign minister of Ukraine. The session was entirely devoted to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the current security situation in Europe.

The EU foreign ministers were also joined by the heads of diplomacy of Ukraine, the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The meeting was also attended by the NATO secretary general. Joint discussion was aimed at enhancing EU’s coordination with its partners.
