In connection with the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation calling on foreign citizens, including diplomatic staff, to immediately leave Kyiv due to plans to carry out strikes on military targets and decision-making centres, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland declares that it continues to regard all attacks on Ukraine, including those against civilian facilities and populations, as acts of unjustified aggression resulting in enormous human losses and infrastructural damage.

On 22-23 May, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski took part in the GLOBSEC Forum 2026, an international conference in Prague. The head of Polish diplomacy participated in a panel discussion on Central Europe's dynamism and on defing the region's role in the context of global transformations.

Transatlantic relations and increased defence spending were the focus of a NATO foreign ministers meeting on 21-22 May with Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski among the participants. Gathered in Helsingborg, Sweden, the top diplomats also spoke about preparations for the upcoming NATO Summit in Ankara.

Diplomats from 10 Asian and 12 European countries took part in a pilot training course on diplomatic negotiations. The event was hosted by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and organised by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) at the Diplomatic Academy in Warsaw on 18-22 May 2026.

On 22 May 2026, Secretary of State for European Affairs Ignacy Niemczycki paid a visit to Bern. He met with Switzerland's State Secretary and Director of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs Helene Budliger Artieda and Deputy State Secretary at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Patric Franzen. The talks included, among other subjects, Poland's bilateral relations with Switzerland and Switzerland-EU links.

Polish MFA expresses solidarity and unequivocal support for Latvia and other countries facing increasing pressure from Russia. We condemn false narratives and unjustified claims spread by Russia regarding the alleged use of the territory or airspace of Latvia or that of other NATO Allies by Ukrainian drones to carry out attacks against Russia.

In light of the appalling circumstances of the detention and treatment of activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla, including Polish citizens, by the Israeli security services, with the consent and approval of Israel's Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel's chargé d'affaires a.i. in Warsaw has been summoned to the Polish MFA on 21 May 2026.

The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs is following with great concern the actions taken by the Israeli armed forces against activists participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla, which declares to be delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

Relations with the EU, development of bilateral and regional cooperation, energy security, future relations with Russia and Ukraine, transatlantic relations, and the security situation in Europe were the key items raised during Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski's talks with his Hungarian counterpart Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Anita Orbán.

On 19 May, the European Parliament launched the European Order of Merit to honour individuals who have made a significant contribution to European integration. The laureates included Jerzy Buzek, former Prime Minister of Poland and former President of the European Parliament, and Lech Wałęsa, former President of Poland and leader of the Solidarity movement.
