The first ever meeting of Poland-Canada High-Level Steering Group on Bilateral Cooperation was jointly hosted in Ottawa by Deputy Foreign Ministers Robert Kupiecki and Alexandre Lévêque. The talks with Canadian partners were also attended by high-level representatives of the Ministry of State Assets, the Ministry of Energy, and the Ministry of National Defence.

The EU's foreign ministers focused on Russia's continuing aggression against Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, the South Caucasus, and Sudan. The meeting, held on 21 April 2026, was attended by Secretary of State for European Affairs Ignacy Niemczycki.

The Pilecki Institute hosted the conference "The Roots of Crimes against Humanity: Bridging the Normative Gap” on the need to adopt a coherent international convention on crimes against humanity. In his opening address, Undersecretary of State Wojciech Zajączkowski underlined that the absence of a uniform, binding convention regulating this matter is a major lacuna in the international law. He noted that modern conflicts, including the ones in Ukraine and the Middle East, show the tangible consequences of a lack of a coherent legal framework.

On 20 April, the date chosen to mark the Polish-French Friendship Day according to the Treaty of Nancy, a first-ever Polish-French Intergovernmental Summit was held in Gdańsk, presided by Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Emmanuel Macron. The meeting inaugurated a series of annual intergovernmental summits aimed at setting strategic directions of cooperation.

On the sidelines of the Polish-French intergovernmental summit, in the presence of Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Emmanuel Macron, Andrzej Seweryn received the Bronisław Geremek Prize of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs for outstanding contribution to Polish-French relations. The distinction was awarded for the first time and the ceremony took place as part of the Polish-French Friendship Day celebrated on 20 April.

The situation in the Middle East was the main topic of today's phone conversation between the Polish and Pakistani foreign ministers. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski and Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar also discussed cooperation areas between the two countries.

Poland's top diplomat, Radosław Sikorski, represented Prime Minister Donald Tusk in an international videoconference of about 50 states and organisations, including the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Hosted by the leaders of the United Kingdom and France, the gathering addressed the Strait of Hormuz crisis and possible mechanisms to restore freedom of navigation.

During his visit, Deputy Minister Wojciech Zajączkowski spoke with Secretary General of Chad's MFA Cyrus Djangbeye Guelngar Evariste and met with General Ahmed Kogri, a diplomatic advisor to the President of Chad.

Member States Representatives of Poland, Sweden and Switzerland, Member States of the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission (NNSC) in Korea, met in Warsaw on 14-15 April 2026 for their annual consultations.

On 20 April, Poland and France will celebrate the first Polish-French Friendship Day. The event, established under the landmark Treaty of Nancy, will mark the opening of the Intergovernmental Summit in Gdańsk.
