21.05.2024Commission established to investigate Russian and Belarusian influencePoland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk issued an order establishing a commission to investigate Russian and Belarusian influence in 2004–2024. It will be chaired by the Head of the Military Counterintelligence Service, General Jarosław Stróżyk. The prime minister also announced that the regional structures of the Internal Security Agency will be restored. He admitted that over 90% of people crossing the Polish border illegally have Russian visas. In addition, he provided information regarding sabotage and subversion in Poland.

20.05.2024300 m EUR for the “iron dome”Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk met Nadia Calvino, President of the European Investment Bank, in Warsaw. EIB invested 100 billion EUR in Poland during 20 years of our EU membership. Donald Tusk announced that Poland will receive further funds of 300 m EUR, which we will spend on building the “iron dome”.

On the anniversary of this heroic battle, Prime Minister Donald Tusk participated in the establishment of the feast of 2nd Polish Corps Command – Land Component Command. Prime Minister argued that the security of Poland can only be ensured by four dimensions, which the government implements: geopolitical security, European air defence, internal security and a secure border. For this purpose alone, the government will allocate an additional sum of PLN 10 billion.

14.05.2024Polish secret services need to be bolsteredPoland's internal security was the main topic of the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Tuesday. As of now, there is little doubt that effective defence requires bolstering the Polish special services. The Prime Minister pledged 100 million PLN to be earmarked for this purpose. The Council of Ministers also adopted a draft amendment to the Copyright Act including royalties, as well as a proposal to raise income criteria for social assistance.

Security to remain top priorityOn 13 May 2024, President Andrzej Duda approved changes in the Council of Ministers at the request of Prime Minister Donald Tusk, appointing new ministers: Tomasz Siemoniak - Minister of the Interior and Administration, Hanna Wróblewska - Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Jakub Jaworowski - Minister of State Assets and Krzysztof Paszyk - Minister of Development and Technology. During the ceremony at the Presidential Palace, Donald Tusk assured that security would remain the top priority for the new government. He also expressed his gratitude towards the departing minister for “laying the groundwork for building a new and normal reality”.

Four ministers to be replacedPrime Minister Donald Tusk has accepted the resignations of four ministers who will run for seats in the upcoming European Parliament elections. The list includes Marcin Kierwiński, Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, Borys Budka and Krzysztof Hetman. Mr. Tusk also appointed the new ministers to replace them, namely Tomasz Siemoniak, Hanna Wróblewska, Jakub Jaworowski, and Krzysztof Paszyk. The official appointment of the new ministers will take place on Monday at the Presidential Palace.
