Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met President Volodymyr Zelenski and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in Kyiv. The head of the Polish government handed over the first Leopard tanks to Ukraine. The regular purchase of modern equipment for the Polish army makes it possible to support our neighbour militarily. The visit of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to Kyiv is a clear signal of further actions to defend Ukraine. Poland consistently supports activities for the security of Ukraine and Europe.

On the morning of 24 February 2022, Russia launched an armed aggression against Ukraine. Russian troops began a massive attack on Ukrainian towns and villages. The aggressor's troops are killing civilians, including children and women, in a barbaric manner. This Friday will mark one year since these tragic events. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki attended the “In Solidarity with Ukraine” concert at the Grand Theatre - National Opera, which commemorates the anniversary of Russia's attack on Ukraine.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki paid a visit to Copenhagen. He met with the Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen. During the talks with the head of the Danish government, key bilateral issues were addressed: energy cooperation and issues related to European security and support for Ukraine. In addition, selected topics from the EU agenda were discussed.

At the invitation of the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, the US President Joseph R. Biden visited our country. During the visit, the heads of state, together with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, took part in talks between Polish and American delegations. President Biden also delivered a speech to the Poles and took part in the extraordinary summit of the Bucharest Nine of NATO. Earlier, the President of the United States of America visited Ukraine, which has been heroically fending off an attack by Russia for almost a year. The visit of the American head of state is an expression of the strength of the NATO alliance and the Polish-American relationship.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki held talks in Warsaw with the head of the Czech government, Petr Fiala. The leaders discussed bilateral issues and security measures in Europe. The conversation also concerned the prospects for further tightening of the sanctions regime – currently, there are ongoing works on the 10th package of sanctions against Russia and Belarus. The Polish and Czech leaders met at the History Meeting House, where they visited an exhibition of selected photographs by photographer Chris Niedenthal.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met Hungarian President Katalin Novák in Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw. The head of the Polish government and the head of state of Hungary discussed bilateral and regional cooperation and the challenges posed by Russian aggression against Ukraine. The Prime Minister stressed that European solidarity with the fighting Ukraine today, is necessary to end the conflict. The victory of Ukraine over the Russian invader means security for Poland and Europe.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met today at the Royal Castle in Warsaw with the President of the United States of America Joseph R. Biden. The discussion covered economic issues, including energy security and the development of nuclear energy in Poland.

The 59th Munich Security Conference discussed assisting Ukraine in the face of war with Russia. The Munich conference provided an opportunity for many bilateral meetings and behind-the-scenes conversations. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki discussed security, including the building of an appropriate rapid reaction and deterrent force, with the President of the European Commission and the German Chancellor. Building a coalition of countries that would produce and co-finance munitions was also an important topic of discussion. The head of the Polish government also met with the President of Kurdistan, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and the mayor of Kyiv.

A bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of the Italian Republic was held at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. The conversation focused in particular on topical issues around support for struggling Ukraine, but also on economic issues. Among others, the challenges facing the European Single Market were discussed. The head of the Polish government stressed that Poland and Italy have many common topics and an identical outlook on the future of the European Union - we care about a strong Europe with strong states.

In 2023, we are allocating nearly 4% of GDP to the development of our army. Huge orders for new equipment for the military require an efficient industry at the highest level. During a visit to Huta Stalowa Wola, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced a decision to invest PLN 600 million in its development. In the future, further PLN 1.2 billion is planned, which will also go to Polish arms factories and plants. The additional funds for the arms industry will allow increased production of modern military vehicles for the Polish Army.
