The head of the Polish Government met with the management of the Port of Gdansk and representatives of ministries to discuss the re-distribution of imported coal to Polish homes. It must meet quality requirements to be re-distributed to local authorities. Cooperation between the Government and local authorities will ensure that the raw material is sold to residents throughout Poland. There are also regular deliveries to power plants and combined heat and power plants - key energy entities in our country.

The head of the Polish government took part in the meeting of the European Council in Brussels. The leaders of the EU countries primarily discussed the current situation on the energy market and the possibility of jointly responding to the current crisis caused by Russia. Other key topics on the agenda were security and further support for Ukraine in the fight against the aggressor. Polish demands were considered in the further works of the European Union on legal, political, and economic solutions.

In times of global crisis, we support Poles and do not leave them to themselves. We have frozen the price of electricity for 2023 up to 2,000 kWh per year for all the households, up to 2,600 kWh per year for households including persons with disabilities and up to 3,000 kWh per year for families with the Large Family Card and farmers. The Council of Ministers adopted an act freezing the rate per megawatt hour in the amount of PLN 693 after exceeding the established limits.

At today's meeting of the Government Crisis Management Team, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński, the team members discussed the energy crisis.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has participated in an informal summit of the European Council in Prague, in which energy prices, support for Ukraine and economic issues were discussed. Amongst other things, the Head of the Polish Government made his demand for the right to receive CO2 emission allowances or freeze their price at 20-30 euros. This solution would cause a rapid drop in energy prices in Poland. Yesterday, in the capital of the Czech Republic, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki took part in a meeting of the European Political Community.

The energy crisis caused by Russia's attack on Ukraine is also affecting local authorities, which are facing large increases in electricity prices. The government is reacting to this situation and is working on introducing a special electricity tariff, for local authorities etc., but also for schools or hospitals as well as small and medium-sized enterprises. In addition, the Government wants to launch subsidies for local authorities that will sell coal to residents. The surcharge will prevent the price of coal from rising any higher than PLN 2,000. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki presented the government's proposals in this regard at a special meeting with local government officials in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

The Head of the Polish Government has taken part in a conference devoted to cooperation in the reconstruction of Ukraine. Experts, representatives of state and EU institutions as well as companies from the energy, IT, transport and logistics industries were also present. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, during his speech, stressed that Poland will continue to help Ukraine, as it has done so far. He also raised the issue of multidimensional threats from Russia as well as the need to build a new security architecture.

The Head of the Polish Government has taken part in a coordination meeting in the form of a video conference with the President of the European Council and the leaders of selected European Union countries. This was the preparation and arrangement stage ahead of an informal meeting of EU Heads of State and governments scheduled for early October. The issues discussed during the talks included the increase in energy prices in the EU, the situation in Ukraine following Russia's actions and economic issues. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also raised the subject of working on the 8th package of sanctions against Russia.

The Warsaw Security Forum conference brought together people and institutions related to political and defence issues. The Head of the Polish Government took part in a discussion panel entitled "Europe at War: Discussing Central and Eastern European Support for Ukraine". The Prime Minister stressed the need for strong and decisive action on Ukraine together with the Transatlantic Community and the USA. In addition, the Head of the Polish Government met with Ingrida Šimonytė, Prime Minister of Lithuania, and Svetlana Tsikhanouska, the leader of the Belarusian opposition.

The head of the Polish Government together with President Andrzej Duda and the Prime Minister of Denmark symbolically started the transfer of gas through the Baltic Pipe. The investment is a joint initiative of Poland and Denmark. Despite the fact that the idea of Baltic Pipe appeared as early as in 2000, only the consistent actions taken by our government allowed to implement this investment. The new routes of gas deliveries directly from the deposits in Norway allow us to increase our energy security. This is a key issue, in particular considering Russia’s aggression on our neighbour – Ukraine, and Russia’s ongoing energy blackmail.
