The head of the government assured that Poland needs the shipbuilding industry. In recent years, we have witnessed the development of the maritime sector in our country. Polish ports on the Baltic Sea already handle more than 100 million tonnes of cargo annually. During the 12th Maritime Convention at the Gdańsk University of Technology, universities from the region signed an agreement of intent on scientific cooperation for the development of offshore wind power. This is an important step towards the implementation of green solutions in the maritime sector.

21.11.2021The international crisis caused by the actions of Alexander Lukashenko makes the geopolitical situation very serious and requires numerous actions and diplomatic efforts by the Polish government. Therefore, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, where he held talks with the prime ministers of these countries. The talks concerned the current situation on the borders with Belarus and coordination of joint actions of the European Union countries. The Prime Minister emphasised that this is not only a conflict with Poland. It is an attempt to violate the eastern border of NATO and the EU. This is the first in a series of meetings between the Prime Minister and European leaders.

18.11.2021On 18 November, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki had two important conversations over the phone: with the Prime Minister of the Republic if Iraq, Mustafa al-Kadhimi, and with the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani. Their main topic was the situation at the border between Poland and Belarus, where migrants who came from, among others, Iraq and, in larger numbers, the Kurdistan Region, are camped on the Belarusian side.

18.11.2021During his visit to Stalowa Wola, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met with Wan-Jae Lee, the president of a Korean-based company, SKC. During the ceremony, the head of the Polish government presented the decision to support the construction of a copper foil factory, which will open in Stalowa Wola. The Prime Minister emphasised that the SK Nexilis investment will not only be a great decision for the company itself, but also for Stalowa Wola and Poland.

11.11.2021To commemorate National Independence Day, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki laid flowers at the monuments to the Fathers of Polish Independence and attended the Changing of the Guard and wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. PM Morawiecki also laid a wreath from the Nation at the Marshall Józef Piłsudski Monument.

The meeting is part of consultations conducted by Poland with Member States and European Union institutions in the context of the hybrid threat from Belarus. The situation on the Polish-Belarusian border continues to be complicated. In recent days, there has been an escalation of attempts to illegally cross the eastern border of our country, which is also the eastern frontier of the EU. The Prime Minister stressed that this crisis does not only concern Poland. It aims to exert pressure and destabilise the entire EU.

09.11.2021On Tuesday, an extraordinary session of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland was held, during which Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki presented the actions taken so far in relation to the situation at the border between Poland and Belarus. In recent days, there has been an escalation in the number of attempts to illegally cross the eastern border of our country. In eastern Poland, 15 thousand Border Guard officers and 13 thousand soldiers are guarding our territory.
