“At the root of security must lie a strong economy. This will be the source of our strength, our security, which are much needed in today’s world”, said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during the opening of the 4th Vision for Development Forum. The two-day meeting is a discussion on the most important challenges facing the Polish economy, related to the broadly understood security, energy and maritime economy.

Today marks the final day of the Polish evacuation operation in Afghanistan. With a total of 44 evacuation flights completed, the final one is scheduled to land later today. Over 1,100 people were airlifted out of Afghanistan, 937 of whom were Afghan citizens who have cooperated with Polish troops or with the Polish diplomatic corps over the past 20 years. The efficiency of Polish services has been acclaimed by the European Union and NATO. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki thanked everyone involved in the evacuation operation.

A new school year approaches, with learning planned to take place in a traditional manner. The previous one was unique due to the pandemic. Teachers and students had limited contact; they could not meet at school every day. We want education to return to what it was 1.5 years ago. Therefore, per the recommendation of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, schools will receive disinfection stations equipped with body temperature measuring equipment. Such stations can be placed at the entrance for improved safety. The Ministry of Education and Science and the Government Strategic Reserve Agency will also provide protective equipment to schools and kindergartens to ensure the safety of teaching staff and students.

​​​​​​​“Our border is and will be well guarded”, said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during his visit to Kuźnica (Podlaskie Voivodeship), where he met with the representatives of the Border Guard, Polish Army and Police. The visit is related to the sharp increase in the number of illegal migrants from Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and other countries at the eastern border of the European Union. In a joint statement, the Prime Ministers of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland emphasized that the ongoing border crisis has been planned and organised by Alexander Lukashenko’s regime and constitutes a hybrid attack against Lithuania, Latvia and Poland, and as such, also against the entire European Union.

We, the Prime Ministers of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland, express our grave concern regarding the situation on the borders of Lithuania, Latvia and Poland with Belarus. It is clear to us that the ongoing crisis has been planned and systemically organized by the regime of Alexander Lukashenka. Using immigrants to destabilize neighbouring countries constitutes a clear breach of the international law and qualifies as a hybrid attack against the Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and thus against the entire European Union.

The situation on the border with Belarus was the main topic of PM Morawiecki’s talks with the heads of the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian governments. The videoconference concerned the border crisis caused by Belarus and related to the influx of migrants into Europe.

“Today, we no longer have to sell off Poland’s national property. Today, we assist such companies as PESA using the Polish Development Fund and help Polish employees via the Financial Shields programmes. That is our economic and industrial policy”, said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during his visit to the PESA company in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, which recorded the highest revenues in 5 years in June 2020. PM Morawiecki’s visit to Dolnośląskie was also an excellent opportunity to inspect the construction site of the Kobylniki bridge, which will be part of the Kruszwica ring road. The ring road will make it possible to divert transit traffic away from the town of Kruszwica. These beneficial changes are bound to increase the region’s investment potential. The head of the Polish government also met with local government officials in Kruszyn (Bydgoszcz County) and visited the Brześć Cultural Centre in Brześć Kujawski (Włocławek County).

Renovation of schools, as well as the construction of kindergartens and new roads, are just some examples of investment projects that local governments can implement due to government funding. Thanks to the Government Fund for Local Investments and the Government Road Development Fund, Polish neighbourhoods are changing for the better. Further investment project funding is to be provided under the Polish Deal programme as well. During his visit to the Dolnośląskie and Małopolskie Voivodeships, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki inspected the sites where such new ventures are being implemented. The head of the Polish government also outlined the fundamentals of the Polish Deal Fund. “The Polish Deal and consolidated public finances not only bring money for major social and infrastructural programmes but also for the stabilisation and improvement of local government income”, he explained. Importantly, the investment project funding provided under the Polish Deal Fund will result in a 9.6% increase in local government income.

For years, the effective actions of our government have contributed to the improvement of local government units’ financial position. Increased local government income, new investment projects and income stabilisation are just some of the beneficial changes that will be brought about by the Polish Deal programme. During his visit to Lower Silesia, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki presented further details on the programme’s new solutions. Among them is the Polish Deal for Local Governments. The government will prepare an act under which PLN 8 billion will be transferred to Poland’s local governments for their next year’s expenses. All LGUs will receive support under the act and will be able to use the extra funding for investment projects improving the citizens’ quality of life, including road, schoolhouse and playground construction projects.

The government of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki puts the family first. We have proved it more than once - for example by introducing the “Family 500+”, “Dobry Start” and “Maluch+” programs. The Polish Order scheme provides for further beneficial solutions available to families with children. The Council of Ministers has adopted the draft act on the Family Welfare Capital. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg, spoke about the benefits of the program during a family picnic in the Żabia Wola commune. As part of the program, parents will receive PLN 12 thousand for the second and subsequent children aged 12 to 36 months. Importantly, the extra money will be granted regardless of income. The program will come into effect on 1 January 2022.
