The Holocaust and Genocide Centre in Johannesburg organized an exclusive screening of the documentary "Nobody told me" directed by Sean O'Sullivan, based on the story of Wanda Albińska and her brave mother, Dr Halina Rotstein, who was murdered in Treblinka in 1942, after deportation from the Warsaw ghetto.

A special permit of the Ukrainian ministers of culture and defence, hasty evacuation, a long journey: all that to reach the destination in the end – Warsaw. It is here that the rehearsals to the European concert tour of the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra began. The programme addressed the heroism of the defenders of Ukraine, the drama of the murdered, yet at the same time it instils hope for victory.

Easter is the most important holiday of the year and is deeply rooted in Polish culture and tradition. It brings new hope and is inseparably connected with life. Easter abounds in folk traditions and customs, some of which are still vividly cultivated, and some are increasingly disappearing. The Easter breakfast tradition is still alive. Beautiful Easter palms are still created, Easter eggs painted with enthusiasm and the priests bless the food which the faithful bring to church every year on Holy Saturday. The popularity of Smingus-Dyngus Day does not decrease.

Consul Michał Gierwatowski laid a wreath at the Katyn monument in Johannesburg to commemorate the 22,000 shot in Katyn in 1940 by the NKVD representatives of the elite of the Polish nation and all victims of the tragic flight of representatives of the highest authorities of the Polish state, who in 2010 went to commemorate these terrible pages of history for the Polish nation.

Scholarships for the Polish diaspora are addressed to foreigners of Polish origin. They enable young people of Polish origin and holders of the Card of the Pole (Karta Polaka) to study in Poland (full-time programmes, in the Polish language) in higher education institutions supervised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The objective of the NAWA Chair programme is to support the highest quality scientific and research as well as didactic activities conducted by Polish academic and scientific units by including world-class foreign scientists in these activities.

The aim of the Ulam Programme is to increase the internationalisation of Polish institutions of science and higher education. The Programme will allow both recognised and promising scientists who hold at least a doctoral degree, to visit Poland in order to strengthen the scientific potential of Polish entities and to participate in their scientific activities, primarily research projects and didactics.
