The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is indignant at the decision to name a Ukrainian military unit after the "heroes of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA).” This kind of decisions can be used by the Russian propaganda to weaken Polish-Ukrainian relations and undermine the strategic partnership between our countries.

At the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski, the Council of the Baltic Sea States top diplomats gathered in Sopot on 28 and 29 May to take part in the 23rd Ministerial Council of the CBSS. The ministers signed the Sopot Declaration on security in the Baltic Sea region and support for Ukraine.

On 29 May in Warsaw, MFA's Undersecretary of State Artur Harazim met with Jolanta Kawa, chairperson of the Bronisław Geremek Foundation, and Paweł Bliźniuk, Polish MP and chairperson of the Polish-French Parliamentary Group, to present them with appointment letters for members of the Bronisław Geremek Prize committee.

Undersecretary of State Artur Harazim and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic Edmondo Cirielli confirmed that works on a new Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between their countries have been initiated. Their meeting, held on 29 May, was also an opportunity to discuss the current challenges in international politics.

On 29 May, Undersecretary of State Wojciech Zajączkowski met with His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, King of the Asante, to discuss new prospects for Poland-Ghana cooperation.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski took part in a Gymnich informal meeting of EU foreign ministers, held in Limassol, Cyprus, on 27 and 28 May.

Held in Poznań on 27 May 2026, the jubilee Odra Partnership summit marked the 20th anniversary of the Polish-German initiative for cooperation between the respective border areas. The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs was represented by Henryka Mościcka-Dendys, Director General and Chair of the Council for Cooperation with the Federal Republic of Germany, and Jan Tombiński, chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Polish Embassy in Berlin.

The agenda of the June European Council, EU-UK relations, the Multiannual Financial Framework 2028-2034, and the rule of law were the focus of the recent General Affairs Council meeting. Held in Brussels on 26 May, the meeting was attended by Secretary of State for European Affairs Ignacy Niemczycki.

The idea of promoting Polish graphic arts and artists among diplomats spread from the the MFA's Diplomats' Gallery to the Academy of fine Arts in Warsaw. An exhibition of works by Władysław Winiecki titled A Great Vaudeville was inaugurated on 26 May at the Czapski Palace.

In connection with the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation calling on foreign citizens, including diplomatic staff, to immediately leave Kyiv due to plans to carry out strikes on military targets and decision-making centres, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland declares that it continues to regard all attacks on Ukraine, including those against civilian facilities and populations, as acts of unjustified aggression resulting in enormous human losses and infrastructural damage.
