In response to reports confirming Russia's responsibility for the attempted attack at Leipzig Airport in August, Poland expresses its solidarity with Germany in opposing Moscow's terrorist activities. We firmly oppose acts of sabotage and attempted hybrid attacks on the territory of NATO and EU member states. It remains our priority to strengthen the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union and ensure the security of our citizens and infrastructure. Russia's actions will not weaken our resolve to support Ukraine in its fight against the aggressor.

On 1-2 September, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski took part in an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers (Gymnich), organised by the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The ministers of foreign affairs gathered in Wicklow, Ireland to discuss Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the EU's continued support for Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, and strengthening the EU's role on the international stage.

On 1 September, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski attended the Visegrad Group's ministerial meeting, which was joined by Japan. This is the first meeting organised under Slovakia's V4 presidency, which started on 1 July 2026 and will last one year. On its sidelines, consultations were held by the top diplomats of Poland and Japan.

Warsaw hosted political consultations between Poland and Kuwait with the participation of MFA Undersecretary of State Wojciech Zajączkowski and his Kuwaiti counterpart, Hamad Suleiman Mashaan Al-Mashaan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has noted with concern yet another decision by the Israeli authorities that violates the principles of international law and is hostile to the United Nations and its specialised agency, UNRWA.

During his visit to Lebanon and Syria between 24 and 28 August, MFA Undersecretary of State Wojciech Zajączkowski met with the authorities of both countries, visited the sites of Polish Aid projects, and discussed opportunities for Poland's continued involvement to promote the Middle East's stability and growth.

In the last week of August, American analysts and staff members from US Congress came on a study visit to Poland and Ukraine as part of the Atlantic Council's Eurasia Congressional Fellowship programme. The purpose of the meeting was to enhance the fellows' awareness of the political, security, economic, and strategic challenges facing the states that neighbour Russia.

On 24 August, Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski represented Poland at the video conference of the Coalition of the Willing marking 35 years of Ukraine's independence. Poland was the first country to recognise the independence of our neighbour in 1991.
