Meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan
18.02.2025
On 18th February 2025, the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Amirsaid Agzamkhodjaev, visited the National Support Center for Agriculture (KOWR). On behalf of the hosts, the meeting was attended by Deputy Directors General Lucjan Zwolak and Leszek Iwaniuk. The Mayor of Drohiczyn, Wojciech Borzym, also attended.
The guests were introduced to the organisational structure and tasks of KOWR, with particular emphasis on domestic and international food promotion. Participants exchanged information on the most important agricultural fairs in both countries. As Lucjan Zwolak noted, Uzbekistan is one of Poland's most important trading partners among Central Asian countries. According to the Uzbek Ambassador, Poland is not only an important but also a long-term partner for his country, with which cooperation can cover many areas of mutual benefit.
During the meeting, opportunities for further cooperation were discussed, including organising trade missions for entrepreneurs from both countries and participating in agricultural fairs. Both sides declared their readiness to undertake joint activities to strengthen economic cooperation and trade.
Polish agri-food exports to Uzbekistan in 2023 amounted to €66.6 million. Trade with this country is characterised by a positive balance for Poland and very positive dynamics (69% increase in export value year-on-year). In 2023, we mainly exported meat and poultry offal, chocolate sweets, frozen potatoes, pet food, and apples to Uzbekistan.
