Poland strengthens its position on African markets at SIAM
21.04.2026
One million visitors and 1,500 exhibitors from over 70 countries - this is the scale of SIAM (Salon International de l'Agriculture au Maroc), the largest agri-food event in Morocco and all of Africa. In 2026, the National Support Centre for Agriculture organized a Polish national stand at the event for the first time, clearly marking Poland's presence in the global agri-food market.
Poland and Morocco – opening ceremony
The Polish stand opened on April 20th, the first day of the SIAM trade fair, traditionally reserved for industry participants and official delegations. The event was attended by representatives of the Polish delegation: Stefan Krajewski, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; Tomasz Orłowski, Chargé d'Affaires of the Polish Embassy in Morocco; Henryk Smolarz, Director General of the National Support Centre for Agriculture; Wojciech Legawiec, President of the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture; and Paweł Meyer, Chief Veterinary Officer.
On that day, the Polish stand was also visited by Prince Moulay Rashid of Morocco and Ahmed El Bouari, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water, and Forests of the Kingdom of Morocco.
What Polish companies have to offer
Eight companies from the agri-food sector are representing Poland at this year's edition. They present a wide range of export products, including: Dairy products (cheese, milk powders), turkey and chicken poultry and chicken products, beef and beef products, egg products, cereal products (groats, flakes, rice, gluten-free products), seed potatoes, convenience products, and functional beverages.
This year's 18th edition of SIAM is held under the patronage of King Mohamed VI, and its theme is "Sustainable Livestock Production and Food Sovereignty." The event program includes presentations of the agricultural potential of Morocco's regions, food and processing exhibitions, modern technologies, and livestock, as well as international stands.
Prospects for Polish exports
Poland's participation in SIAM is another step in building the recognition of Polish food and strengthening its export position. Attending the event not only promotes domestic products but also fosters business relationships and the development of exports to new markets, including the dynamically developing African market. SIAM is a recognized platform for meetings between producers, processors, and importers from dozens of countries, fostering the creation and deepening of trade relations.
Polish food in Africa
Morocco is one of Poland's most important trading partners in North Africa and the Arab world. At the same time, it is a market with significant, yet untapped, potential for Polish agri-food products.
In 2025, Poland exported agri-food products worth €63 million to Morocco. Among these, cereal and flour products dominated (37%), pet food (10%), dairy products (9%), animal intestines, bladders, and stomachs (9%), baby food preparations (7%), coffee and tea (6%), and confectionery (5%).
