Support for Polish-American cooperation in agriculture

Henryk Smolarz, Director General of the National Support Centre for Agriculture, met with Professor Jim Mazurkiewicz, the new Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Texas. The meeting provided an opportunity to congratulate him on his assumption of office and to discuss the further development of Polish-American cooperation in the agri-food sector.

Congratulatory letter for Professor Jim Mazurkiewicz

KOWR Director General Henryk Smolarz presented Professor Jim Mazurkiewicz with a congratulatory letter on his appointment as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Texas. In the letter, he expressed his appreciation for his long-standing commitment to the development of Polish-American economic cooperation, particularly in the agri-food sector.

The National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR) actively supports the development of relations between the Polish and American agricultural sectors. In this context, KOWR expresses particular appreciation for the work of Professor Jim Mazurkiewicz, who has been successfully promoting Polish economy in Texas for many years. The KOWR Director General emphasised the importance of Professor Mazurkiewicz's activities to date, including cooperation with Polish entrepreneurs, organising trade missions, and initiating contacts with American partners, thus contributing to the growth of exports of Polish products to the US market.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss opportunities for further increasing Polish food exports to Texas and strengthening cooperation with American business partners.

KOWR hosts students from Texas A&M University

Professor Jim Mazurkiewicz is also affiliated with Texas A&M University, where he is committed to developing scientific and educational cooperation between the university and Polish institutions.

Since 2011, he has been organising student exchanges between Poland and Texas as part of the "Poland-Texas Young Farmers Exchange Program". Its goal is to exchange knowledge and experience in the fields of economics, production, and agricultural policy, as well as the educational systems in Poland and Texas.

The group of students participating in the programme visited the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and then the KOWR headquarters. During the meeting, the students learned about the scope of activities of the National Support Centre for Agriculture and its tasks in developing Polish agriculture and promoting food exports.

During their four-week stay in Poland, programme participants will gain experience on Polish farms, learning about the specifics of domestic agricultural production, key agricultural markets, and the export potential of the Polish agri-food sector.
