Polish exhibitors conquer Shanghai at SIAL China
19.05.2026
Polish agri-food products are once again being promoted in Shanghai under the slogan "Poland Tastes Good”. The three-day-long SIAL Shanghai trade fair is a renowned and largest food industry exhibition in China and throughout Asia. This year's edition of the event organised since 2000 takes place from May 18-20, 2026, and the National Support Centre for Agriculture is exhibiting at SIAL Shanghai for the second time since 2019.
Polish food producers and exporters have been present at the Shanghai fair for years. This year, sixteen of them are exhibiting at the national stand, organised by the National Support Centre for Agriculture under the banner “Poland Tastes Good”. Potential business partners from China and other Asian countries can explore the Polish stand’s rich and diverse food offer, including milk powders, cheeses and other dairy products, poultry, pasta, sweets and savoury snacks, groats and cereal products, dried vegetables, semi-finished products for the confectionery, bakery, and dairy industries, ready-made meals, and energy drinks.
The official opening of the Polish stand on May 17th was attended by Jan Szopiński, Deputy Director General of the KOWR, Adam Bralczyk, Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Shanghai, and Ewa Nowacka, Counsellor for Agricultural Affairs at the Polish Embassy in Beijing.
More than just a fair
The promotional activities of the National Support Centre for Agriculture and the entrepreneurs are complemented by live culinary demonstrations at the national stand, combined with tastings of traditional Polish dishes and snacks. Among them are pierogi and duck, which are also popular in China. On the day preceding the fair, Polish entrepreneurs had the opportunity to visit three local wholesalers and retail chains offering imported food, including Polish products. The visit provided an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the local display of goods and to speak directly with store managers.
The potential of the Far East
In 2025, the value of Polish agri-food exports to China reached €135.79 million. Dairy products accounted for more than half of these exports (€69.95 million). Additionally, the largest share of exports to China in 2025 was held by stuffing feathers, confectionery, baby food preparations, and cereal and flour products.
The Chinese market has almost unlimited absorption capacity compared to our production potential; however, the challenge lies in meeting formal requirements, adapting products to Chinese consumer preferences, and standing out from the competition.
