01.10.2026
From 29 September to 1 October 2026, Polish food products are being promoted in Santiago, the capital of Chile, under the banner Poland Tastes Good during the 14th edition of the Espacio Food & Service trade fair. The National Support Centre for Agriculture is organising a national pavilion for the third time at Chile's premier food industry event.
Poland at Espacio Food & Service 2026
Eight food producers and exporters are participating alongside KOWR in Santiago this year, seeking new commercial partners in the Chilean market and the broader region. The Polish companies are promoting products including cheese and processed cheese, butter and milk powders, cereal and breakfast products, rice cakes, krówki (fudge-like Polish sweets), biscuits and other confectionery, ingredients for the confectionery and dairy industries, as well as turkey meat and turkey products. Furthermore, visitors from Chile and other South American nations visiting the Polish pavilion have the opportunity to taste classic Polish dishes, such as gołąbki (cabbage rolls), pierogi (dumplings), and pączki (doughnuts).
On 28 September 2026, the day prior to the trade fair's opening, Polish businesses took part in B2B matchmaking meetings with local partners interested in importing Polish food products. Additionally, the Polish delegation visited a store belonging to the JUMBO retail chain at Alto Las Condes.
The ceremonial opening of the national pavilion on 29 September was attended by Henryk Smolarz, Director General of KOWR; Michał Świetlik, Chargé d’affaires a.i. at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Chile; Mirosław Maliszewski, Member of the Polish Parliament (Sejm) and Chairman of the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee; Jarosław Krajewski, Member of the Polish Parliament (Sejm) and Chairman of the Polish-Chilean Parliamentary Group; and Adam Pejcha, Head of the PAIH Foreign Trade Office in Chile.
Espacio Food & Service Trade Fair
Espacio Food & Service is Chile's largest food industry trade fair. The event provides an excellent opportunity to establish new business contacts, explore market trends and innovations within the food sector in Chile and other South American countries, as well as promote Polish products across the region. This year, the organisers expect around 50,000 visitors.
Agri-food Exports from Poland to Chile
In 2025, Polish agri-food exports to Chile reached EUR 82 million (over PLN 350 million), significantly exceeding the figures from previous years.
Following two years of trade promotion activities carried out by KOWR in this market, the export value increased by 65%. Current data for this year suggests that, after three years of sustained efforts, the export value may double (a 100% increase).
The main commodities exported to the Chilean market include:
- Sugar syrups (isoglucose) – 30%
- Water and beverages (sweetened drinks) – 24%
- Coffee and tea – 14.6%
- Confectionery products – 7%
- Cereal and flour preparations – 5%
- Frozen poultry meat and offal (turkey and chicken) – 4.5%
Although Chile is a well-known producer and exporter of various food products, trade statistics confirm that there is ample room in its market for imported goods, including those from Poland. Chile imports substantial quantities of agri-food products; in 2025, the total import value reached approximately EUR 9.3 billion (around PLN 40.5 billion), sourced from 112 countries worldwide.
