Winter auction at Michałów a success

15.12.2025

On 13th December, the Winter Arabian Horse Auction took place at Michałów Stud. Of the 26 mares and stallions offered by the state studs in Michałów, Białka, and Janów Podlaski, 15 horses found new homes, selling for nearly €131,000.

2026 Winter Arabian Horse Auction at Michałów Stud

The majority of the horses offered for auction were from two stud farms supervised by the National Support Centre for Agriculture: Janów Podlaski and Michałów – the latter being the event’s host. Janów Podlaski Stud sold eight out of ten horses for a total of €80,200, which translated into a high average price per horse, exceeding €10,000. Michałów Stud sold six out of twelve horses for €45,500, achieving an average price per horse amounting to €7,600. Białka Stud, a branch of the Małopolska Hodowla Roślin, a plant breeding company, sold one of the four horses offered for €5,000. The average price per horse at this year’s Auction exceeded €8,700.

The result was determined by the high prices achieved for three mares from Janów and one from Michałów. The record holder for this year’s edition was a bay yearling by the name of Achillea (Mutabahi Al Hawajer – Adriana / EKS Alihandro), bred by Janów Podlaski Stud. She was the first horse auctioned that day, for which her Polish buyer paid €28,000.

The second highest score was achieved by the two-year-old grey Zigi Zaida from Michałów (Prometeusz – Zigi Zara / Shanghai E.A.), for which a customer from Belgium paid €16,000.

The 10,000 euro mark was also exceeded by the five-year-old bay Anette (EKS Alihandro – Anarchia / Gazal Al Shaqab) and the 10-year-old chestnut Pregoła (Vitorio TO – Perespa / Enzo) – both from the stables in Janów Podlaski.

The Winter Arabian Horse Auction is a recurring event organised by Michałów Stud since 2016. For many Polish breeders, it offers the opportunity to purchase high-quality Polish state-bred horses, show, sport and breeding horses alike. The horses offered at the Winter Auction can significantly impact the development of private purebred horse breeding, especially among young breeders just beginning their breeding journey. Like the Polish Arabian Horse Days and Pride of Poland held in August, the auction also attracts buyers from abroad – this year, Michałów hosted breeders from Belgium, Israel, and the Netherlands.

Congratulations to the organisers of the Auction, its participants, buyers and breeders of Arabian horses.
