Government administration

The Polish government administration is an important partner for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in fulfilling the tasks of Poland’s development cooperation. The involvement of the ministries and their initiatives support reforms and systemic actions in partner countries, in particular in selected Eastern Partnership countries: Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.

Carried out with the participation of state institutions in developing countries, this cooperation has an effective impact on nationwide changes. At the same time, this expert base has an influence on the development of bilateral relations with our country and facilitates a better inter-institutional relationship.

It is worth emphasising the involvement of the state administration in educational and information activities addressed to Polish society. In a thoughtful and responsible way, the state institutions explain the diversity and interdependence of the world around us and explain the causes of global social problems. They also explain the role and value of, for example, scholarship programmes for citizens from developing countries who, after returning home, become the promoters of Poland and can actively take part in building bilateral relations.

Principles of cooperation between the MFA and government administration bodies in the field of development cooperation

Projects and other initiatives implemented by government administration bodies must be in line with the priorities identified for a country in the strategy papers, in particular in the development cooperation plan for a given year. In this way, they are mutually complementary to the activities of other actors, such as NGOs.

Interested state institutions must bear in mind that projects by government administration bodies and their subordinate entities are selected no later than by the end of the first quarter of the year. Projects are evaluated and recommended for funding. Information about the successful projects is published on the Polish aid website.
