A meeting of the Cabinet Council was held at the Presidential Palace. The Chancellery of the Prime Minister hosted the inaugural meeting of a special team tasked with developing a concept for changing the financing system of the Church Fund. The head of government, Donald Tusk, attended an extraordinary meeting of the European Council held in Brussels. During an additional gathering of European leaders, a unanimous decision was reached to revise the multiannual financial framework (MFF) for 2021–2027. President Andrzej Duda appointed government representatives designated by Prime Minister Donald Tusk to the Social Dialogue Council. Thus, the most important institution of national social dialogue can resume its work.

The government wants to resume the work of the Social Dialogue Council as soon as possible, which is why on 5 January Prime Minister Donald Tusk appointed ministers to represent the government in the work of the Council. At the same time, he asked President Andrzej Duda to appoint ministers to the council as soon as possible.

Adults with disabilities will receive more support. The social pension for people who are totally unable to work due to disability will be increased to the level of the minimum wage. Such a solution is provided for in the citizens' draft amendment to the Social Pension Act. The bill was submitted to the Sejm in the previous term, but only now has it been submitted to the first reading. Prime Minister Donald Tusk stressed from the Sejm rostrum that the government will work hard to ensure that the regulations enter into force as soon as possible.

The Council of Ministers has adopted a bill that allows the purchase of the so-called morning-after pill without a prescription from the age of 15. Thanks to this, women will be able to decide for themselves and quickly use emergency contraception. During the press conference, Prime Minister Donald Tusk also announced Polish-Ukrainian intergovernmental consultations. The first meeting is to take place in March in Warsaw.

The head of the Polish government visited Kyiv, where he held talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and other officials. The Prime Minister also paid tribute to those killed in the war with Russia and met with Ukrainian students as part of Ukrainian Unity Day. As noted by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Poland will support Ukraine in its war against Russia and its efforts to become a full member of the EU.
