Ukończył Akademię Muzyczną we Wrocławiu w klasie klarnetu prof. Mieczysława Stachury. Flet podłużny studiował pod kierunkiem Gabriela Garrido w Centrum Muzyki Dawnej przy Conservatoire Populaire w Genewie oraz u Michela Pigueta w bazylejskiej Schola Cantorum, gdzie kształcił się także w zakresie klarnetu historycznego pod kierunkiem Pierre-André Taillarda. Tomasz Dobrzański jest multiinstrumentalistą – gra również na średniowiecznych instrumentach szarpanych, a także szałamajach, dudach i fletach jednoręcznych. Ponadto rekonstruuje dawne instrumenty muzyczne i wykonuje ich kopie. Od 2000 roku kieruje wrocławskim zespołem Ars Cantus, który ma w dorobku liczne nagrania nieznanej muzyki wrocławskiej i śląskiej. Jednocześnie zajmuje się dydaktyką i popularyzacją muzyki dawnej. W Akademii Muzycznej we Wrocławiu prowadzi klasę fletu podłużnego. W roku 2016 we Wrocławskiej Akademii Muzycznej obronił pracę doktorską, opartą na starodrukach włoskich z kolekcji Biblioteki Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego. Jest dyrektorem artystycznym wrocławskiego festiwalu muzyki dawnej Forum Musicum.
Tomasz Dobrzański graduated from the Academy of Music in Wrocław in the clarinet class of Prof. Mieczysław Stachura. He studied recorder with Gabriel Garrido at the Early Music Centre at the Conservatoire Populaire in Geneva and with Michel Piguet in the Basel Schola Cantorum, where he also studied historical clarinet under the direction of Pierre-André Taillard. Tomasz Dobrzański is a multi-instrumentalist – he also plays medieval plucked instruments, as well as shawms, bagpipes and one-hand flutes. In addition, he reconstructs old musical instruments himself and makes copies of them. Since 2000, he has been in charge of the Wrocław ensemble Ars Cantus, which has recorded numerous recordings of unknown music from Wrocław and Silesia. At the same time, he is involved in teaching and championing of early music. At the Poznań Academy of Music, he runs the recorder and clarinet (historical performance) classes, and at the Second Degree State Music School in Wrocław, he runs the recorder class. During his lectures and workshops, he talks about historical performance practice and techniques of playing historical instruments. He also edits music for theatrical performances. In 2016, at the Wrocław Academy of Music, he defended his doctoral thesis based on Italian old prints from the collection of Wrocław University Library.
