Poland in South Africa

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria commemorated Foreign Service Day on 16 November 2025. Consul Robert Rusiecki laid a wreath at the grave of Polish diplomat Stanisław Łepkowski.

The grand opening of the Walvis Bay Independence Beach investment project (a park with playgrounds) took place on 14 November 2025. This project is part of a larger project financed by the European Union. The project has been implemented since 2022 in cooperation with the Polish municipality of Czerwonak and the Namibian municipal government of Walvis Bay. Completion is scheduled for the end of November of this year.

Mr. Jacek Chodorowicz, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria, took part in the 20th anniversary celebrations of the SALT project. Also in attendance were prominent Polish scientists and the Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation of South Africa, Dr. Nomalungelo Gina.

A classical music concert was organize in Cape Town on 8 November 2025 to celebrate Polish Independence Day.

The College of Europe has opened applications for its postgraduate programmes for the 2026/27 academic year. In response to the growing need in Europe for experts in security, the College of Europe in Natolin is proud to announce the new study track within the Advanced MA in European Interdisciplinary Studies: European Security and Strategy. Candidates have until 14 January 2026 to submit their online application.

On 6 November 2025 the Goethe Institute in Johannesburg organized a meeting for language enthusiasts, as part of a multilingual "speak dating" session. The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria participated in the event for the second time. The Goethe Institute's initiative was met with great interest from Johannesburg residents, and participants eagerly took advantage of the opportunity to learn Polish and several other languages.

On All Saints' Day, the Polish Consul in South Africa, Robert Rusiecki, and the Polish community gathered for a Holy Mass at Westpark Cemetery in Johannesburg. Employees of the Polish Embassy in Pretoria also laid a wreath at the Katyn Monument.

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria participated for the second time in the European Film Festival 2025 in Lesotho. The festival is a joint venture of the Delegation of the European Union in Maseru, the Alliance Française du Maseru, and EU Member States. On 31 October 2025, Poland presented the film "Peasants" directed by Dorota Welchman and Hugh Welchman at the Lesotho National University in Roma.

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria announces a tender for the sale of a movable asset, i.e. a Chrysler Grand Voyager passenger car, registration number D BBG 104D - year 2010

The opening ceremony of the European Film Festival 2025 took place in Pretoria on 8 October 2025. The French Ambassador delivered a keynote address.
