Poland in South Africa

A tri-partition of power into executive, legislative and judiciary branch in South Africa also has a territorial dimension: the seat of government is in the capital of Pretoria, the parliament in Cape Town and the supreme court in Bloemfontein.

On the occasion of the International Mother Language Day, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria participated in the project called "Multilingualism Challenge", which was organized by the Goethe Institute in Johannesburg in cooperation with a number of Embassies accredited in South Africa, Institutes of Culture, academic centers, EU delegation, and EUNIC (Association of European Union National Institutes of Culture).

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria kindly informs that the consular duty in Cape Town, South Africa will take place on 13-14 March 2020.

Pursuant to Article 19(1) of the Act of 7 July 2017 on the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (Journal of Laws of 2019, item 1582) Director of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange announces call for applications to the Ignacy Łukasiewicz Scholarship Programme – master studies.

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria kindly informs that the next consular duty will take place in Harare, Zimbabwe on 24 -25 February 2020.

The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) opens the call for proposals under the Polish Returns programme. The programme enables Polish scholars to return to their home country and become employed at universities and research institutes. From this year on, it is possible also to obtain a starting grant for fundamental research, financed by the National Science Centre (NCN).

The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) is pleased to announce the second edition of the programme for post-doctoral incoming researchers: The Ulam Programme. The objective of The Ulam Programme is to help foreign researchers to develop their careers by intensifying international mobility and to allow them to establish scientific cooperation with excellent host institutions in Poland.

The gen. Władysław Anders scholarship program for the Polish diaspora is addressed to foreigners of Polish origin - nationals of: Belarus, Bulgaria, Czechia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova, Rumania, Slovakia, Hungary, countries of former Yugoslavia, Ukraine, Russia and countries of Central Asia and Caucasus, Latin America and Africa. The program enables young people of Polish origin and holders of the Card of the Pole (Karta Polaka) to study in Poland (full-time programs, in the Polish language) in higher education institutions supervised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

On the initiative of the Holocaust & Genocide Centre in Johannesburg and in cooperation with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation and the Israeli Embassy in Pretoria, official commemoration of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 75th anniversary of the liberation of KL Auschwitz was held on 27 January 2020.
