The National Centre for Research and Development

It is with great pleasure that we present the Annual Report of the NCBR for 2022. Our mission is “to build a modern present and future” and for 16 years we have been making every effort to fulfill it. 2022 was a time for us to implement important changes – we changed both internally and externally. First of all, supervision over the NCBR was entrusted to the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy. Changing the location of the NCBR’s headquarters was a great challenge for our organization. The new headquarters is located in the very center of Warsaw, in the Varso Tower building, which is a modern place suitable for the needs of the entire NCBR Group, but also adapted to the needs of persons with disabilities.

2021 was another year in which we had to operate in the era of a global pandemic, economic changes and, importantly for us, at the turn of the perspective of financing research and development projects. It was also the first year of functioning of the new NCBR strategy.

2020 is first of all a time of global fight against the coronavirus pandemic. It is also the time when NCBR, as one of the first institutions in the country, transformed into a virtual office, enabling our clients to obtain over PLN 5 billion for the implementation of projects.

2019 was a record-breaking year when it comes to funds which the Centre spent on support for Polish businesspeople and innovators. They amounted to PLN 4.2 bn. Thanks to the money, a hundred novel and fascinating projects could be launched.

2018 was a year of numerous challenges arising, i.a., from the necessity to adjust to new European Commission regulations and to implement programmes in a new formula.

In 2017 the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) celebrated its 10th anniversary. It was not only a reason for us to be proud, but also a time to summarize our successes – successes many people have contributed to.

Innovative projects created by NCBR beneficiaries are successfully competing today in foreign markets, and their successful implementation will have a significant impact on the shape of the Polish economy in the coming years.
