NUTRITECH

The main goal of the program is to increase the availability of products and solutions for proper nutrition by 2030 by implementing the results of research and development, taking into account the principles of sustainable development.

The specific objectives of the program are:

  • implementation of developed solutions (pro-health products, nutritional plans, processes, technologies and accompanying services) reducing the risk of chronic non-communicable diseases (including diet-related diseases);
  • implementation of developed solutions (personalized diet, pro-health products, supporting tool, services) addressed to people suffering from chronic non-communicable diseases.
  • implementation of the principles of sustainable development through technological solutions in the production and distribution of pro-health food.

NUTRITECH program, Polish support research units and enterprises in the following thematic areas:

T1. Nutrigenomics and biomedicine as a tool supporting the fight against chronic non-communicable diseases (including diet-dependent diseases)

  • Development of innovative dietary solutions based on biomedical research, including nutrigenomics, personalized medicine and the analysis of nutritional risk factors allowing to reduce the incidence of diet-related diseases;
  • Reliable and evidence-based tools to develop individual nutritional plans to reduce the incidence of chronic non-communicable diseases;
  • Technological solutions using the molecular basis of diet-related diseases and their impact on individual nutritional plans, allowing the treatment or alleviation of disease symptoms;
  • Products using genetically and environmentally determined metabolic differences as a component of individual nutritional plans reducing the frequency of civilization diseases.

The thematic scope does not include research on the development and use of dietary supplements.

T2. Food in the treatment and prevention of diseases

  • Modern nutritional solutions, e.g. products, technologies, based on the latest scientific knowledge, in the fight against chronic non-communicable diseases
  • Innovative and affordable food products, among others, for people who are ill or at risk of diet-related diseases and during convalescence, allowing for treatment or alleviation of disease symptoms The use of innovative solutions in the field of functional food in supporting the treatment of diseases, e.g. oncological, metabolic, endocrine, gastroenterological.
  • Solutions to improve health by enriching the diet with bioactive substances with specific pro-health effects present in food products
  • Modern products based on various compositions of bioactive substances of natural origin, with identified, beneficial biological effects justifying their use in prophylactic and preventive activities, as well as in diet therapy.

T3. Technological and economic aspects of proper nutrition.

  • Back to nature - developing solutions to reduce the amount of food additives and harmful substances in food production and agri-food processing without losing its nutritional and sensory values, as well as maintaining biodiversity and protecting ecosystems
  • Development of innovative products and solutions for proper nutrition using alternative sources of protein
  • Development of innovative technologies for the production of health-promoting, affordable food
  • Circular economy solutions in the production of healthy food
  • Solutions enabling verification of the authenticity of the origin of organic and functional food, e.g. unification and availability of composition, implementation of intelligent food labels, control of food composition in accordance with EU standards
  • Tools that allow you to control the quality of food by analyzing the microbiome both in products and in the processing process and increasing the use of microorganisms in food production.

The allocation for the programme is PLN 200 million for years 2022 – 2032.

The program will be implemented through co-financing of projects including industrial research and development works. Activities involving the preparation of the results of scientific research and development work for practical application. The expected initial TRL of the project is 3.

Program is designed for enterprises, research units and consortia.

The minimum value of eligible project costs is PLN 1 million.  The maximum value of eligible project costs is PLN 10 million. The maximum project implementation period is 48 months.
