Strengthening Security in Research and Academia - an event on research security and cybersecurity in the academic environment
18.02.2026
The NCBR Brussels Office, together with the AGH University of Krakow and the AGH Cybersecurity Centre, invites you to the event "Strengthening Security in Research and Academia”, which will take place on 10 March 2026, from 13:30 to 18:00 at the NCBR Brussels Office, Rue Belliard 40 in Brussels.
The event will provide a platform for exchanging knowledge and best practices in the areas of research security, universities’ cyber resilience and the protection of sensitive technologies in the academic sector. Research security is becoming one of the key elements of how modern research institutions operate, forming a pillar of open yet safe international scientific cooperation within the EU and with partner countries. In the face of growing cyber threats, risks related to sensitive technologies and the challenges arising from internationalised cooperation, universities and research organisations are increasingly required to implement effective policies to protect data, knowledge and infrastructure.
The event’s themes are aligned with the broader strategy for the EU’s economic security and technological sovereignty, embedded in the European Research Area (ERA) agenda and new legislative initiatives such as the NIS2 Directive and the Cyber Resilience Act. Participants will learn about current European initiatives to protect research, institutional good practices and tools that support responsible and secure international cooperation.
The event will also be an opportunity to present the SOC4ACADEMIA Toolbox, a set of tools for strengthening cybersecurity in the academic sector developed under the SOCCER project.
