Polish aid

Although the right to education – regardless of one’s gender, religion, origin, physical and intellectual predisposition – is guaranteed by international covenants, millions of children around the world still do not have access to education.

Wanda Błeńska’s Wanda Matugga Health Centre has received a new ambulance purchased as part of a Polish Aid project.

This is the eleventh year that we mark World Humanitarian Day.  This year commemoration comes as the world continues to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, which so far has killed more than 775,000 and infected almost 22,000,000.

There are at least 200,000 of them globally. They devote their time, health, and sometimes lives to save the others in the most remote corners of the world.

“I hope that the memorandum will allow us to bring direct help to persecuted religious groups, Christians in particular, as well as all other denominations. We will support them and act to raise global awareness of the growing scale of violations of a fundamental human right: the right to freedom of religion and belief,” said Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński in Budapest.

“The water which has spilt cannot be gathered” – this old Swahili proverb reflects the growing problem of access to water that Tanzania’s inhabitants and, more broadly, people living in all of Sub-Saharan Africa have to cope with.

Soon, on World Humanitarian Day (WHD) on 19th August the world will commemorate humanitarian workers killed and injured in the course of their work, and will honour all aid and health workers who continue, despite the odds, to provide life-saving support and protection to people most in need.

Despite COVID-19-related restrictions that remain in force in Uganda, the Wanda Matugga Health Centre, named after Dr Wanda Błeńska, continues to implement module II of a project carried out by the InnovAid Foundation.

“We are sending international aid to Lebanon,” Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński said at a press conference held at the MFA on Wednesday.

At the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ECORYS Polska Sp. z o. o. has undertaken an evaluation study of the Polish Aid Volunteering Programme and global education activities.
