At the same time, we remain in constant contact with our NATO allies. We are strengthening our border protection and will not allow ourselves to be provoked.

Since 2015, we have introduced changes in our policy related to local governments. We support investments in villages, municipalities, small and large cities. We are providing record funds from the state budget for the development of local Poland. In 2023, local government units will receive extra founds in the amount of PLN 14 billion for their purposes. This would not be possible without tightening the tax system and repairing public finances. Thanks to numerous government programmes, investments beneficial to people are being implemented all over Poland: renovation of roads, construction of new bicycle paths, modern schools and sports halls, renovation of hospitals and clinics.

The history of our homeland is marked by the struggle for the freedom and independence of Poland and the Polish people. As a nation that has never surrendered, we have repeatedly put up steadfast resistance to those who wanted to enslave us. On 1 August 1944, the Warsaw Uprising broke out. The uprising of the people of Warsaw against the German occupiers lasted 63 days - tens of thousands of Poles suffered the highest price in the fight for freedom. It was the greatest act of resistance in Nazi-occupied Europe. On the 79th anniversary of the Uprising, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki paid tribute to the heroism and memory of those who died at that time. The head of the government laid flowers at memorial sites and took part in solemn celebrations. The Prime Minister also met with the Insurgents, who continue to bear witness to history and patriotism for future generations.

On the 79th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, we all remember the heroic attitude of tens of thousands of residents of Warsaw. We know very well what sacrifice our capital city made for its courage to resist the German occupier. Warsaw lost not only its buildings, which are valued at more than USD 45 billion, but the Germans also murdered its inhabitants. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has asked the Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski to jointly sign a letter addressed to the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz regarding reparations after World War II.

We have consistently pursued our social policy, which is based on solidarity - the more vulnerable groups in society deserve the state's support and we are delivering on this. The 14th pension, like the so-called 13th pension, will be paid every year. We want to provide a better life for pensioners. Seniors can use the extra money for a trip with their grandchildren, to buy a bicycle or to fulfil another dream. In addition, we have so far succeeded in implementing many other important measures. Seniors 75+ can benefit from free medication - and soon we will expand this group to include people 65+ and children and young people. We also encourage people to spend time actively. We are building senior homes throughout Poland as part of the Senior+ programme and funding activities and projects from the Active+ programme.
