“USA is our main partner in the field of energy, and cooperation with the United States in this area is of strategic importance to us” – emphasised Deputy Minister of Climate Adam Guibourgé-Czetwertyński during a meeting with Wilbur Ross, U.S. Secretary of Commerce. The meeting, which took place on 14 February 2020, was also attended by the Government Plenipotentiary for strategic Energy Infrastructure, Piotr Naimski.

The priorities of the next climate summit and the development of wind energy were the main topics of the meeting of Deputy Minister of Climate Adam Guibourgé-Czetwertyński with John Murton, the UK government plenipotentiary for the organization of COP26. The meeting took place on 13 February 2020 in Warsaw.

“Credibility in implementing climate policy, fair distribution of costs and benefits, launching bottom-up initiatives, including technological innovations, are key challenges in solving climate problems” – said the Minister of Climate and President of COP24 Michał Kurtyka during the debate “Building an Energy and Climate Grand Coalition” organised by the International Energy Agency in Paris. The meeting was held on 12 February 2020 in the “IEA Big IdEAs” series and was also attended by the UK Minister of State for Business, Energy and Clean Growth, Kwasi Kwarteng, and Joan Groizard Payeras, General Director of the Spanish Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving.

Mitigating climate change, improving air quality and reducing CO2 emissions are the main objectives of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme launched under the Norwegian and EEA Funds. Agreements on the new Programme were signed on 7 February 2020 by the Minister of Climate Michał Kurtyka, the Minister of Development Funds and Regional Policy Małgorzata Jarosińska-Jedynak and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway in Poland Olav Myklebust.

The EU climate neutrality and the challenges in means for the Polish economy are the main topic of the meeting of the Committee for Energy and Climate Policy of the Polish Chamber of Commerce, which was attended by the Minister of Climate Michał Kurtyka. The meeting was held on 6 February 2020 in the seat of the Polish Chamber of Commerce.

“Thanks to the creation of the Ministry of Climate, there is a new opening for the promotion and development of the use of renewable sources in the production of energy and heat in Poland”, said the Deputy Minister of Climate Ireneusz Zyska, Government Plenipotentiary for RES, at the “RE-Source Poland” conference. The event, organised by the Polish Wind Energy Association, was held on 4 February 2020 in Warsaw.

Bilateral cooperation and exchange of experience in the context of the European Green Deal are some of the topics of the Polish-French economic forum with the participation of the Minister of Climate Michał Kurtyka. The meeting that took place on 3 February 2020 in the Ministry of Development was also attended by Minister of Development Jadwiga Emilewicz and Deputy Minister of Climate Adam Guibourgé-Czetwertyński, as well as the French Minister for the Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire and his colleague, the Minister for Ecological and Inclusive Transition Élisabeth Borne.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki appointed Jacek Ozdoba as the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Climate. The nomination was given by Michał Kurtyka, the Minister of Climate.

Yesterday marked the end of the Polish Presidency of COP24, which has lasted since last year's climate conference in Katowice. Michał Kurtyka, Minister of Climate and President of COP24, handed the Presidency over to Chile, which is chairing the COP25 climate summit in Madrid.
