During the informal meeting of the Environment Council (ENVI) held on 28-29 April 2025 in Warsaw, EU ministers discussed a number of key issues related to the fight against climate change.

The rapid development of new electricity grids and the optimal use of existing infrastructure are key to a successful EU energy transformation. On 26 March 2025, the Minister of Climate and Environment, Paulina Hennig-Kloska, addressed this topic at the flagship event of the Polish Presidency: Resilient EU grids : ensuring energy security and competitiveness

The first Environment Council under the leadership of the Polish presidency took place today in Brussels. The discussions focused on environmental aspects of the Clean Industrial Deal, global environmental policies, and environmental impacts of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

The Polish Presidency is taking steps towards its priorities in the filed of energy policy. On 17 March 2025, as part of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska chaired a meeting of the Energy Council (TTE) in Brussels.

Energy security, the phasing out of Russian fossil fuels, support for Ukraine, the synchronisation of the Baltic States and the gas storage regulation, as well as the Clean Industrial Deal, were the topics discussed at the European Parliament Committee on Industry, Research and Energy on 20 February 2025. Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska attended the meeting.

A ceremony celebrating the synchronisation of the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian electricity grids with the synchronous area of continental Europe took place in Vilnius, Lithuania on 9 February 2025. This is a historic moment both for the Baltic States and the European Union as a whole.

On 24 January 2025, ministers of the Baltic States met in Riga, Latvia, to discuss final preparations for connecting the Baltic energy networks to the grid of continental Europe. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment Krzysztof Bolesta, Estonian Minister of Climate Yoko Alender, Latvian Minister of Climate and Energy Kaspars Melnis and Lithuanian Minister of Energy Žygimantas Vaičiūnas.

Combating misinformation, effective climate change communication and environmental education were the main issues addressed at an international meeting organised by the Ministry of Climate and Environment in co-operation with the European Commission. The two-day meeting aimed at exchanging experiences and good practices was attended by representatives of ministries, offices and NGOs of European Union countries.

Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska attended a session of the European Parliament Committee on the Environment, Climate and Food Safety (ENVI Committee). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Polish Presidency with MEPs and exchange views in that context. The session took place in Strasbourg (France) on 23 January 2024.
