Polish aid

The Development Cooperation Policy Council has unanimously adopted the Development Cooperation Plan for 2021. The meeting was chaired by the National Coordinator for Development Cooperation, Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński.

In many places in the world, women and girls are more at risk of poverty and hunger than men. In developing countries they represent the majority of the unemployed, and as many as 75% of them work illegally.

In 2020, a three-year project to support deaf-blind people in Georgia was completed. The three years of operating the project resulted in more intense activities of four clubs located in Tbilisi, Batumi, Telavi and Zugdidi that reunite more than 150 deaf-blind people.

Polish aid in Lebanon was provided mostly by non-governmental organisations and the Polish diplomatic mission in cooperation with local entities.

Following two years of cooperation, the Polish Ministry of Investment Funds and Regional Policy completed a development programme to support the Georgian administration in producing final investment promotion plans for selected regions.

In 2020, the Polish Medical Mission Association implemented Module II of the two-year project entitled “Myanmar – medical and training activities and screening tests in the Irrawaddy Delta”, thus continuing the cooperation with Wakema Township Association, started in 2016.

After two years of cooperation, the Centre for Education Development, commissioned by the Polish Ministry of National Education, has completed a development project for Georgia.

- Poland does not forget about those in need, not only in our country but also around the world. Today, we are sending another humanitarian aid transport to Iraq in response to a great demand caused by the coronavirus pandemic and a war with the so-called Islamic State. Our intention is to support the medical services there in providing the necessary help to the inhabitants of Iraqi Kurdistan, - emphasised Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Paweł Jabłoński speaking about the aid dispatched today in coordination with the Ministry of National Defence, its subordinate air units, and the Material Reserves Agency. As part of the Poland’s relief effort for Iraq, the Material Reserves Agency has airlifted blankets, surgical gowns, towels and sheets which will reach the needy.

The activities of the Redemptoris Missio Foundation included the expansion, refurbishment, and rearrangement of the Holy Family Children’s Centre and Mission in Kithatu for COVID-19 prevention.

In cooperation with the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the Main School of Fire Service in Warsaw implemented a two-year project from Polish Aid funds, which significantly contributed to the development of the system of education of rescue services in Georgia.
