Poland in South Africa

On 11 November 2024, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria organized a ceremony to mark Independence Day. Among the invited guests were representatives of South African government institutions, the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), heads and members of the local diplomatic corps, South African media, representatives of think tanks, non-governmental and social organizations, academic, business and clergy communities, as well as the Polish diaspora.

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria, in cooperation with the Pretoria Boys High School, organized a lecture on "Poland - Central Europe - global politics and relations with Africa” on 11 October 2024.

A classical music concert entitled "Chopin and the Romantics" was held on 9 November 2024 in Cape Town, along with an exhibition dedicated to Fryderyk Chopin.

The Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria kindly informs about the consular outreach in Durban which will take place on the 16th November 2024.

The EU Delegation in Windhoek, together with the Member States of the European Union (embassies and cultural institutes), the local film industry and the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology of Namibia, organised the fourth edition of the European Film Festival in Namibia, which this year was held under the slogan “Year of Skills”.

The Central and Eastern European region is a large, important and highly creative, but often underestimated part of the global gaming industry, boasting over 1,000 studios and bringing together almost 30,000 highly skilled programmers and specialists. Established in 2018, the Central & Eastern European Game Awards were created as a joint project of organizations from the gaming industry in the Central and Eastern European region to honor the best games produced and published by local studios this year.

The official opening of the European Film Festival in South Africa took place in Johannesburg on 10 October 2024. The event is organized every year by the Delegation of the European Union, EUNIC and the embassies and cultural institutes of EU countries.

Filmlovers can look forward to an entertaining and provocative array of new award-winning films from Europe as the European Film Festival returns for its 11th edition in South Africa from 10-20 October. Women challenging patriarchy and convention; relationships and independence; humour, satire and surrealism; coming-of-age stories; dysfunctional families; grumpy old men; restless youth; the pursuit of dreams; a realistic rom-com; and a riotous hip-hop biopic - all this and more.

The main event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising and the "Warsaw Flights" was held in Johannesburg, at the Katyn Monument on September 7, 2024.

The ceremonial opening of the exhibition "Warsaw Uprising 1944" took place on 7 September 2024. The event was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria in cooperation with the Warsaw Uprising Museum and the National Museum of Military History in Johannesburg.
