the Minister of Climate Michał Kurtyka held a video conference with Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans. The main topic of their meeting was the proposal for a new EU climate objective for 2030, announced on 16 September by President Ursula von der Leyen.

The European Commission's proposal to increase the emission reduction target by 2030 was the main topic of the meeting of Visegrád Four, along with representatives of Bulgaria and Romania with Jochen Flasbarth, Secretary of State at the Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of Germany. The talks, which were held on 17 September 2020, were attended by Vice-Minister of Climate Adam Guibourgé-Czetwertyński.

The representatives of the Ministry of Climate have declared Poland to be willing to join the Electric Vehicles Initiative.

We note with concern the European Commission’s proposal to increase the 2030 emission reduction target to “at least 55%” without presenting measures to implement it. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, has not justified this particular value in her speech.

The work undertaken to date to amend the act in question constitute an attempt to adapt the provisions governing the obligation to maintain mandatory reserves to the current conditions and circumstances on the natural gas market.

Until 26 August 2020, the Ministry of Climate is collecting comments, feedback and opinions on the European Commission’s document entitled: “Powering a climate-neutral economy: An EU Strategy for Energy System Integration”.

On 20 August 2020, the Ministry of Climate submitted for inter-ministerial and public consultations a draft regulation of the Minister of Climate amending the regulation on the specific conditions of the power system.

The Minister of Climate has made available for consultation the draft regulation amending the Regulation of the Minister of Energy of 6 March 2019 on the specific rules of shaping and calculating tariffs and settlements in electricity trading.

“Facilitation municipalities and residents in terms of waste management, tougher penalties for littering, and definition of gradual, rational levels of recycling by municipalities are some of the proposals for changes aimed at making the municipal waste management system more flexible and at lowering the costs of its operation” - said Deputy Minister of Climate Jacek Ozdoba.
