Medicine safety - the topic of the debates with the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector
Independence in terms of availability of medicines and the development of European and Polish capabilities in this area were the topic of debates with the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector at recent conferences.
During the Health Market Forum, Łukasz Pietrzak, the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector spoke about the development of China's pharmaceutical sector and the role of that country in the global medicines supply chain.
- China made good use of the 1990s to build its pharmaceutical capacity. It has dominated the API segment and invests heavily in research and development of innovative medicines. The European priority should be to preserve the current elements of independence in terms of medicines availability and build alliances that will make it possible to gradually strengthen it - said Łukasz Pietrzak.
The topic of medicines security was also the focus of a panel with the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector at the European Forum for New Ideas. In the discussion entitled 'The strength of the national pharmaceutical sector', Łukasz Pietrzak emphasised that we need a long-term strategy for medicines sovereignty. He pointed out that every country - including Poland - should strengthen its resilience to various crises: from natural disasters and economic turmoil to epidemic, terrorist and military threats.
- Ensuring access to medicines is one of the key elements in building the country's resilience - said Łukasz Pietrzak, noting the importance of the pharmaceutical sector for Poland and Europe.
The participation of the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector at the EFNI and the Health Market Forum was an opportunity to share experiences and to identify self-sufficiency in medicines as an important element in the protection of public health, the security of citizens and the stability of the state.
